Track how long you actually spend on each task and compare it with your estimates to plan more realistically.
Start and stop a timer
Hover over a task (or open it) and click the play button.
The timer starts, and the running time appears in the header, so it’s always visible.
Click the play button again, or Stop in the header tracker, when you’re done.
Only one timer runs at a time. Starting a new one stops the previous one. You can also track time on individual subtasks; the time counts towards the parent task too.
The header tracker
Click the tracker in the header to see what you’re tracking now, stop it, or restart one of your recent tasks from the list.
If you go past a task’s estimate, you’ll see how much you’re over, for example +15m over.
Track from anywhere
Phone widgets: start tracking, or stop the timer, from the Planzer widgets. On iPhone, a running timer also shows as a Live Activity.
Desktop app: stop the timer or start your next task from the menu bar or tray. Press ⌘/Ctrl + Alt + T to start or stop the timer from anywhere.
Edit tracked time
Forgot to stop the timer? Open the task, click the tracked time (shown as HH:MM:SS) and type the correct time. You can’t edit it while the timer for that task is running, so stop it first.
Stop the timer automatically when you’re away
Go to Settings → Account and set Idle auto-stop. Choose Off, or stop the timer after 5 minutes up to 4 hours of inactivity. The idle time isn’t counted.
Set good estimates
Open a task and pick an estimate from 30 minutes to 12 hours, in 30-minute steps. You can also type ~45m when you quick-add a task, or resize the task’s block on the calendar.
Estimates power several parts of Planzer:
The finish time and running order on today’s column
How much free time you have left in Plan my day
How long a block is when you drag a task onto the calendar
