Focus sessions

Start 15 to 60-minute focus sessions, handle overtime, take a five-minute break and finish the task.

A focus session is a timed block of distraction-free work on one task, with an optional short break at the end.

Start a focus session

You can start one in three ways:

  • Open a task and click the bolt icon (Focus session).

  • Press ⌘/Ctrl + K and choose Start focus session.

  • At the end of Plan my day, click Start focusing to focus on your first task.

Then:

  1. Under Length, pick 15, 25, 45 or 60 minutes. 25 minutes is the default.

  2. Click Start.

While the timer runs, the focus window shows the task’s subtasks, description and attachments, so you have everything you need in one place.

During the session

  • Pause and Resume if you get interrupted.

  • I’m done ends the session early when you’ve finished.

  • Stop session ends it without counting it as completed.

When time’s up

When the timer reaches 00:00, Planzer lets you know using your alarm setting, and the clock keeps counting up as overtime (for example +02:30) so you can see how long you’ve gone over. You can then:

  • Silence alarm to stop the sound.

  • + 5 min to keep going for five more minutes.

  • Take a break to start a 5-minute break called “Take five”.

  • I’m done to finish. Planzer asks if you want to mark the task as done.

Breaks

Breaks are always 5 minutes. Click Skip break to end one early. When the break is over, choose Another session to go again or All done to finish.

Sessions don’t chain automatically, so you decide when to start the next one.

Sounds and alarms

To change how the alarm works, add a gentle chime while you work, or play background sounds such as rain, go to Settings → Account → Sounds.

Your focus sessions are counted on the Analytics page, under Focus.
