Repeating tasks

Make tasks repeat daily, weekly, monthly or yearly, and learn what happens when you miss an occurrence.

Repeating tasks come back automatically on a schedule, so you don’t have to add the same task again and again.

Make a task repeat

  1. Open the task by clicking it.

  2. Click Repeat task (the circular arrows icon). It shows “Doesn’t repeat” until you pick a schedule.

  3. Choose how often:

    • Every day

    • Every weekday (Monday to Friday)

    • Every week, on the same weekday as the task

    • Every 2 weeks, on the same weekday

    • Every month, on the same date

    • Every year, on the same date

The schedule is based on the day the task is planned for, so plan the task for the right day first. A small repeat label on the task card shows that it repeats.

Only Planzer tasks that are planned for a day can repeat. Tasks in your Inbox, and tasks imported from other tools, can’t.

Change one occurrence or all of them

When you edit a repeating task, Planzer asks whether to apply the change to Only this task or This and all future tasks. Pick “Only this task” for a one-off change, like moving this week’s meeting prep to a different day.

What happens if you miss one

Normal unfinished tasks roll over to today. Repeating tasks work differently: if you miss an occurrence, it isn’t carried over. The next occurrence simply takes over. This way, a daily task you skipped for a few days doesn’t pile up as several copies on today’s list.

Missed occurrences of repeating tasks also don’t appear under Overdue in Plan my day.

Change the schedule

  1. Open the task and click Repeat task.

  2. Click the current schedule, then pick a new one.

Stop a task from repeating

Open the task, click Repeat task and choose:

  • Stop recurring to keep this task but stop new occurrences.

  • Delete all instances to remove the task and all its occurrences.

Repeating task, routine or template?

Use a repeating task when one task should always come back on a fixed schedule. If you’d rather add a set of tasks when you choose, a routine may suit you better.
